Caroline Stoughton is presenting her solo exhibition It All Stems from Color: Deeply Rooted Smiles as an installment at the Free Library of Northampton Township’s Artist of the Month series.
Composed of a collection of oil and acrylic paintings, Stoughton’s exhibition delves into the boundless spectrum of colors found in nature, alongside interpretations of flowers that illuminate our interior spaces with joy.
Inspired by a profound journey through memories of nature, supportive family members and childhood floral encounters, Stoughton’s art invites viewers to rediscover the intricate beauty often overlooked amidst life’s hustle and bustle.
Including thick applications of fluorescent orange, pink and sprawling leaves as seen in “Candyland,” and 13 more paintings featuring dainty yet bold tropical and local flowers, this exhibition transcends the notion of mere distractions in the natural world around us. It instead serves as a poignant reminder that beauty envelopes us and, if we give it our attention, emanates the vibrancy of color that surrounds us in nature.
Stoughton, born in 1998 in Pennsylvania, earned her BFA from Tyler School of Art in 2020. She is also a recipient of the Richard Cramer Color Award. Presently, she is completing a residency at Cherry Street Pier in Philadelphia. Stoughton’s paintings grace private collections across the U.S. and Rome, Italy.
